A Way To Habitual Happiness

Innate in each and every one of us is the desire to be happy and we spend our lives in pursuit of it. For many of us, happiness is an elusive state. We get a taste of it now and then, and just when we think we have it in our hands, it vanishes - again. But for the relative few, happiness is an altogether different experience.

Some people are almost always happy, even when something bad happens, they bounce back quicker than most, and despite their difficulties, still manage a buoyant disposition. We have all met individuals like this, perhaps even envied them? They seem 'blessed', lucky. But the truth is they are neither: more blessed nor luckier than the rest of us. But they do have something going for them that the rest of us don't: the habit of happiness.

Most of us make the mistake of thinking that happiness is derived from external circumstances. How many times have you thought that: if only a certain thing would happen, or if only you could have the career you want, or the partner you want, or any of the other things that you want, then you would be happy? And how many times have you acquired those things and for a moment felt happy because of them, only to find that your happiness soon evaporated and you were left wanting again? This is a common pattern for most of us and we play it out over and over. It starts when we are children and for those of us who do not learn how to overcome it, it inevitably robs us of true happiness.

True happiness cannot be achieved by accumulating stuff, because this kind of 'happiness' is based on an endless sense of wanting that never gets fulfilled. It is a merry go-round. This is not to say that achieving certain things in life is not desirable and not worth pursuing, indeed acquiring certain things certainly greases the ride, but to depend on them for your happiness will only prove fatal to it in the long run. For the great truth about happiness is that it is not an external event, nor is it dependent on external events, happiness is an internal point of view and it is an internal point of view that one can train oneself to maintain, becoming habituated to it.

The degree to which a person has a proclivity towards being happy or sad is based on one thing - mental conditioning. It was once thought that when we were born, our brains were hard set and so too were our personal tendencies. We now know this is not true. For example we know that different areas of the brain cater to different sensory experiences and mental states. In the case of happiness this happens in "the left anterior portion of the brain". The Intention Experiment, (Lynne McTaggart).

We also know that by practicing certain ways of thinking, causing certain ways of feeling, the areas of our brain associated with those thoughts and mental states will be developed and the natural tendency will be to continue to think in that way, be it good for us or not. This is because when we are repetitive, or practice something consistently, the brain develops more neurons to dedicate to that process making the doing of it faster, more efficient, and easier. Simply put, you can develop your brain so that you can, in time, become habitually happy.

To develop a state of habitual happiness, the first thing one must do is to slowly eliminate toxic thoughts such as: judgement, fear, worry, envy, jealousy, hatred and the like, replacing them with a persistent practice of positive thoughts, the more loving and compassionate the better. This can be very hard in the beginning, because believing the positive thoughts might seem impossible at first. This does not matter, remain persistent with them. In time you will come to believe them, because belief is also a result of habitual thought patterns and can be changed just like any other internal point of view.

The second thing that will accelerate the development of the 'happy part of the brain' is the practice of slowing down ones brainwave frequencies. In our usual awakened state, we are mostly in the higher Beta brainwave frequency. In this range our thoughts will be flowing rapidly and will tend to be colored in a more negative way. In this frequency range we experience anxiety, fear, anger and so forth. But when we slow down our brainwaves we become deeply relaxed and our thinking becomes more life positive.

There are a variety of ways that one can slow down their brainwave frequency, but by far, the most effective one is by achieving a meditative state. Traditional meditation is a powerful transformer of the mind, but it is not necessary to assume a traditional practice (although the author highly recommends it) in order to slow down ones brainwaves. Martial arts is a highly effective practice, and is in fact considered a form of meditation, similarly chanting, or becoming deeply engrossed in something you are passionate about will achieve the right result. If none of these appeal, there are also easy to use 'plug and play' solutions such as guided meditation recordings and binaural beats (designed to induce meditative states).

Of course developing a state of habitual happiness is a process and is not one that you can cheat on. In time it will become effortless, but in the beginning, like anything else worth the doing, time, practice and persistence are key. How long you might ask? Everyone's process is unique. This author felt subtle change after only a few weeks. Two years later and she is naturally high most of the time.

Striving for a conditioned state of habitual happiness, is truly a way to discovering ones internal pot of gold. It is priceless and will last a lifetime.

Predicting Stocks And Other Things With Remote Viewing

Remote viewing is the unexplained, but scientifically acknowledged ability to see something that is hidden from physical view, something that is usually separated by some distance. Known as PSI, it is classified as a paranormal ability and is sometimes thought of as ESP, clairvoyance, precognition, or telepathy.

Used extensively as an “intelligence gathering” tool, the US government funded PSI research for over twenty years from the end of world war two through to the 1970’s and used it to train ‘psychic spies' during the Cold War. Known as part of the Star Gate project, the results were irrefutable: remote viewing is not only possible, but as an innate ability that everyone possesses, anyone can learn how to do it, and for those who become good at it, it is possible for them to achieve a positive result eighty percent of the time -- eighty percent being the threshold replicated across multiple laboratories and cultures.

Up until recently remote viewing has largely been a tool used by the military, the CIA and other related branches of law enforcement. A common practice of the police, it has been used to solve crimes and find missing people. But having caught the imagination of the public, the application of remote viewing is gaining momentum in the mainstream, and is being used by some to predict all kinds of future events including the rise and fall of the stock market.

The idea that remote viewing can be used to successfully predict the outcome of the financial market eighty percent of the time might seem fanciful, if not a dream, but what about using it to see the future state of your health and well being. To use it in this way would in effect enable a person to change their future.

The ramifications of remote viewing for our daily lives are huge, but more than this, the fact that it is a proven phenomenon that requires our consciousness to transcend time and space, remote viewing is also a way of glimpsing the “universal mind” the “sea of consciousness” that all mystical experiences elude to -- the all knowing that is everywhere, and that we can, through learning how to remote view, tap into it whenever we want.

Surprisingly, learning how to remote view is not as difficult as one might imagine. In fact, it can be a deeply relaxing experience because it requires a temporary shift in brainwave frequencies from the beta range to the alpha range. The alpha brainwave frequency range is a dreamy relaxed, non-judgemental, non-analytical state and is the brainwave states most commonly associated with paranormal experiences, and when one develops a practice of entering this state they are primed not only for remote viewing but for a whole host of experiences that transcend the barriers of the time space continuum.

Flowing Energy Into 3D

Sitting, writing this, I am entirely aware that who and what is writing this, is really a consciousness that is manipulating energy into form. A being beyond a body, beyond being human, whose essence is pure vibration, a conscious vibration. Vibration is everything, but when it is conscious, it can be used to create anything.

Everything is simply an expression of more or less energy: dense energy, subtle energy: the greater the density; the greater the mass. The world we live in is three-dimensional; it has a lot of dense energy. Dimensions are levels of energetic densities, or more accurately concentrations of energy flow. So, when we wish to create something in 3D, we simply need to flow energy in a specific and intended way.

All things are created by flowing energy and energy flows into form according to its vibration. Absolutely everything has its own unique vibration, its own energetic frequency. Energy moves in waves, this is its vibration, the frequency and intensity of its highs and lows.

By watching the sea, it is easy to see that the big high waves are more powerful than the small lapping waves. They have gathered force over time, rolling in from far out to sea, gaining momentum and height. This is the same for vibration. The more intense the vibration, the more attracting power it has to pull energy of the same vibration to it. When it is able to do this, it gains momentum, its energy builds, and when it becomes dense enough, it will eventually express itself in 3D form.

As 3D beings we are most skilled at flowing energy into 3D form. It is what we do all the time. We can’t help it, it is the way we relate to our world, and how we experience and understand it. Our thoughts are in imaginative 3D, and for every thought, imagining, dream and feeling we have, we are emitting a 3D vibration. We are flowing energy according to our conscious and unconscious thinking.

Few realise this, most believe that events and circumstances of life are a result of happenstance. But nothing comes from nothing, and the circumstances of a person’s life is only ever a vibration match to energy previously flowed through certain thoughts and feelings that have gained momentum over time. To change the circumstances, one need only develop a way to consistently change and maintain their conscious and unconscious thinking, allowing it to gain momentum overtime, knowing in time the focus of their thoughts and feelings will appear.

Is "The Force" With You?

Depending on how your life feels, you will intuitively know whether "The Force" is with you. If it is, your life will be going well, you'll have the knack of bringing what you want into your life and you will be happy. Anything less than this means you haven't quite gotten yourself positively aligned with "The Force", but that doesn't mean that you can't.

"The Force" is something we all instinctively understand exists. Throughout human history, according to our development and comprehension of things, we have used various names to describe "The Force". Until recently, it was commonly named as many gods and goddesses, some call it magic, others a universal power. Lately it is being described as "The Unified Field", "The Universal Mind"... omniscient consciousness. And science is beginning to understand the workings of this omniscient consciousness, "The Force", through the lens of its microscope.

It is actually a very exciting time for our species because we are living in an age where science is beginning to gain greater understanding about what "The Force" actually is and how we individually and collectively align to it and make it work for us or against us. Currently most of us are negatively aligned with "The Force", of course not intentionally so, but as a result of social conditioning and fear. This in turn has created the fear-ridden world we are currently experiencing. But the good news is we truly are dawning a "New Age" of consciousness, and we can, and will turn all of this around. In time, our natural state will be positively aligned to "The Force" our source, and when that happens, the human condition will be unrecognisable to what it currently is.

This not wishful New Age or sci-fi thinking, this subject is on the leading edge of scientific inquiry and the implications are profound. Everything that we experience as our reality, be it globally or privately is a direct result of a perceived reality and we are accountable for it. Simply put the way that we perceive, determines the way we align ourselves to the "The Force". The quality of our conscious thinking and feeling is what directs "The Force" because absolutely everything in existence is vibration and our thinking and feeling causes either a negative or positive alignment to "The Force" through the vibrations we are emitting. "The Force" cannot tune into you positively if you are not transmitting positive vibrations and when this is the case you won't experience life positively until you change the quality of your vibration, until you 'vibe' yourself up.

Getting your vibe to emit positively is accomplished through systematic and gradual degrees. If you are like many people and realise that "The Force" isn't with you, don't worry, with a little effort it will be, and not only will you have caused a happy shift in your consciousness, enabling yourself to have a much more fulfilling life, but you will also be helping the greater reality that is currently operating in our world now.

Increase Melatonin Naturally And Get Some Sleep

Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the pineal gland, a small, pea sized gland located in the centre of the brain. The discovery of melatonin and the understanding of its role in maintaining good health and vitality is relatively new with research ongoing. But what is undoubted about this hormone is that it is pivotal in maintaining our body clock and regulating our sleep.

Our bodies, when working optimally are regulated by the circadian cycles of nature. The sun goes down and we begin to slow down and unwind from the day. This is because our biology responds to how much light and dark we are exposed to. The light fades, the pineal gland secretes melatonin into the blood stream, and we begin to feel drowsy, we fall asleep.

However, for many of us, this natural cycle has stopped working properly and our inability to fall asleep easily has become chronic. From a health point of view this can be devastating because regular and sufficient sleep is necessary for the immune system to stay strong and to repair and heal the body. So, when sleep deprivation is chronic it severely impacts our health and performance.

In the modern world of round the clock living, sleep disorders are pandemic. Those exposed to lots of artificial light, or working night shifts, or regularly flying between time zones, the natural pattern of melatonin levels are disrupted resulting in an inability to fall asleep for hours, continually waking out of sleep, restless sleep, and insomnia.

Pharmaceutical companies have been quick to cash in on this problem and are supplying numerous distributors with supplemental melatonin for over the counter purchase. But what most of the public do not realise about supplemental melatonin is that it has yet to go through extensive studies which most hormones and other dietary supplements go through. This means that melatonin in a bottle is thus largely unregulated, extremely varied in its quality, and the variant produced from animal products can be contaminated with disease. If you are going to take supplemental melatonin, better to take the synthetic version.

Better yet, why not learn how to increase your melatonin levels naturally, safely, easily. Simliar to DHEA and HGH (AKA youth hormones), the secretion of hormones into the blood stream is in effect the result of particular brainwave activity. Extensive scientific research has proven that one can modify their brainwave activity at will to achieve brainwave states that are conducive to health and healing. Stop Obsessive Thoughts

Only those who suffer from obsessive thoughts know how tormenting and disruptive they are, or how much of one's life, energy, and mental resources goes into turning, what is no more than, a mental merry go round that won't stop and won't let the thinker off. No matter how hard a person might try, no amount of will seems capable of stopping the intrusive thoughts, they just won't go away, at least not until they are good and ready to go. Usually this happens when there are some other thoughts that are strong enough to replace them, and the whole cycle begins again.

Maybe obsessive thoughts wouldn't be so bad if they made us feel good. But this is more like wishful thinking. In addition to taking up tremendous mental space in our lives, obsessive thoughts also tend to cause the thinker increased anxiety and, or distress. And if that isn't bad enough, here's another fact about obsessive thinking to clinch the deal: it is common wisdom that repetitive thinking about a thing, over a period of time, will tend to make the thing, being thought of, to show up in one's life, but usually not in the way one would expect.

Understanding this, one starts to get a true picture of how much power obsessive thoughts wield over a person's life, because obsessive thoughts are really no more than concentrated mental focus. And concentrated mental focus is the key to any great success story in life. Unfortunately in the case of obsessive thoughts, it is concentrated mental focus on something that does not tend to benefit the thinking. Rather, it's a way of pouring all of one's thought power down the drain.

Any true obsessive thinker has at least some inkling that the malaise of their thinking process is effectively putting their life on hold, stagnating their ability to act wholly on their own behalf. But between knowing this and knowing how to change the pattern of obsessive thinking can lie a long journey through: cognitive behavioural therapies, techniques, tools, medications ... all offering anywhere from no relief to complete relief for some.

I am about to offer another solution, but hear me out on this. This one is unknown to the mainstream and only came to my attention because I think I've probably exhausted nearly, if not all, solutions being offered from the multitudes of conventional wisdom claiming expertise in this problem. The solution I am about to explain is brain entrainment using binaural beats, but a little first on the workings of the mind and brain.

As we know, thoughts are really no more than an interactive response resulting from electrochemical activity in the brain. In turn the thought feeds back stimulus to the brain, which in turn affects the thoughts again. Pretty well everything in the natural world can be observed as cyclical patterns. And what causes these patterns to change over time is a series of constant subtle changes. Change is never immediate. When it seems immediate, it is only because there have been enough subtle changes overtime to result in the more obvious change. What has this to do with obsessive thinking you might be asking? Everything because changing thoughts requires changing the electrochemical activity of the brain, or in other words brainwave frequency.

Sitting reading this, your brain's electrochemical activity is operating at a certain frequency. This also means that whatever obsessive thought a person might be experiencing corresponds to a particular frequency. Lets say your obsessive thought occurs around a brainwave frequency of 30hz, the higher beta brainwave state (this is completely reasonable). At this frequency your brain's electrochemical activity will be different from that of say 10hz, the alpha brainwave state, and accordingly your mental, thinking, state will be different. At 30hz, you might feel anxious, agitated, stressed... whereas at a frequency of 10hz you will most likely be experiencing a much more relaxed and calmer state.

Now here's the important bit. If you can get into a habit, be it through manual means, to change your brainwave frequency, you will be able to change the habit of your thoughts. Complicated as that might sound, its not. Binaural beats are the manual means by which to change your brainwave frequency and it is easy, relaxing and lasting.

To understand a little about how binaural beats work, it is useful to understand a little about meditation. The benefits of meditation are numerous and can be profound. This is because meditation gradually reconditions the electrochemical activity of the brain by lowering its brainwave frequencies and accordingly altering its mental habits. Those who practice a disciplined meditation technique over time are found to benefit immensely in all aspects of their lives: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

But meditation is a serious and often considered rigorous practice that is not suitable for everyone. This is where binaural beats brain entrainment comes in. Binaural beats in effect, causes the brain to enter the same brainwave frequencies as meditation and in so doing, effects many of the same benefits of meditation. What's more is if binaural beats are listened to regularly over a period of a few months, the results are lasting because the brain establishes new neural pathways, new electrochemical 'habits' and thus a different mental state. Binaural beats offer an alternative 'off beat' therapy for obsessive thoughts, but they are also scientifically proven.

If you are tired of obsessive thinking and have tried many, or all, of the therapies and solutions conventionally offered, binaural beats might just be what you have been looking for. For more information regarding mind power, positive mind states, binaural beats or meditation please visit:

Ageing But Not Getting Old

When I was a teenager in high school, my home economics teacher made a comment that never left me: “youth is wasted on the young”. As a young person, I thought it an unkind comment and viewed my teacher unsympathetically. Of course now that I am a mature woman, I completely understand what she was getting at. The vitality and beauty of youth, that gets traded off for experience, knowledge and, dare I say, some wisdom in ones growing years, is for many of us, if not most, painful to relinquish.

We rush in hordes to the cosmetic check out counter to pay a premium for the next best promise of youth in a bottle. Maybe this time it will work. We gain some comfort from the fact that today’s forty year olds are the new thirty year olds, and the fifties something crowd, well they are the new forties something crowd. If that doesn’t quell our anxiety, we get on the phone to the surgeon, often too hastily and with dire results. If the results happen to be satisfactory, we can look in the mirror for another decade with a little more ease – if we are lucky. But mostly we’ll just focus on the next thing we need to get ‘fixed’. Ageing phobia is pandemic and palpable.

Now you could say, I am one of those forty something year olds, who is faking the thirties well. Is it a result of all the therapies I’ve tried, or genes, or both? Like most women, I’ve gotten on the anti ageing regime, trying all kinds of the usual products and services on offer: expensive creams and serums, chemical peels, exercise, facial exercises, urine therapy, hydration, supplements, electronic facelifts, diet change … stopping short at injections and surgery – but just. I have consulted a cosmetic surgeon and am filled to my boots with research on procedures. Is any of it working? Maybe, a little. Am I giving up? Definitely not. I am wholly committed to ageing but not getting old and I think it important to draw a distinct line between these two ideas: ageing and being old.

Personally, I don’t think most of us would mind ageing if we didn’t look it. If, in our forties, we looked and felt like we did in our twenties, the fact that we were forty probably wouldn’t bother most of us at all. We have all seen those rare individuals who are in their fifties, sixties, seventies … and they are beautiful. They sparkle, they have something timeless about them, and a youthfulness. If most of us are honest, we would admit we’d like to be like that at their age. Similarly we have all met people who seem far too old for their age. What is it that is going on with these two groups that causes one to remain younger than their years and the other to become older than their years?

Like the society we live in, for most of us, our understanding of growing old is mostly at a surface and superficial level. Most of us don’t know what is going on biologically, emotionally, or mentally when we grow old. We put it down to age and we assign the title of anomaly to those who defy this apparent law of nature. But what science has already proven is that the way we think has a direct and immediate effect on our physical and emotional well being. There is no truer saying than ‘so you think, so you are’ and it begins in the brain.

Like the brain, our thoughts are really no more than energy with the potential to affect other manifestations of energy, like the energy manifestation that is our brain. Basically thought energy interacts with brain energy and if the thought energy is ‘happy, positive’ energy then the effects on the brain will be to effect other parts of the body in a ‘happy, positive’ way. Similarly if the thoughts are unhappy the opposite occurs.

For example, when a person is feeling depressed and experiencing negative thoughts, something very distinct occurs in the brain. It begins to reduce its happy neurotransmitters serotonin, while increasing cortisol, the degenerative, ageing hormone. This causes the body to stop functioning optimally, the immune system becomes depressed, the bodies rate of degeneration accelerates, in essence, the body starts to age faster. Simply put negative thinking reduces the life force of the body and accelerates the onset of death.

Conversely if you observe what is going on in the brains of those who are happy and have a positive disposition, you can observe the opposite. A biological response occurs that increases the individuals life force, slows down ageing and enhances longevity. The brains of positive thinking, happy, people cause the body to increase its happy neurotransmitters (serotonin), increase its feel good endorphins, reduce its cortisol (degenerative hormone) while increasing its DHEA, human growth hormone and melatonin (three hormones associated with youth and vitatlity).

This is not pie in the sky thinking, this is factual and scientifically proven. Any explanatory research on brainwave activity will substantiate this. Brainwave activity is directly correlated to thought processes, and the effects on the body are a direct result of the brains response to the quality of those thought processes.

If we reflect back on those fifty, sixty, seventy year olds, that seem younger than their years, they will all possess the same thing: a generally happy disposition and positive outlook. No matter what life throws their way, they manage to maintain a buoyant outlook. They realise that things will change again, and don’t get bogged down in the temporal hardships of the moment. Similarly for those who are older than their years the opposite can be found. They are mentally burdened, and have a generally poorer outlook on life. When something goes wrong, the effects hang on, and tend to cause the individual to have more trepidation regarding future events. Ironically this tends to increase the negative occurrences in their lives, stead fasting their negative outlook.

What does this all mean for all of us lying somewhere between the two, who need to get happier brains? Many will say, you cannot change your essential character. But this is actually wrong. We can change the general negative or positive outlook of our character because our character is a result of our thoughts, and our thoughts can be changed by changing our brainwave patterns.

How does one change their brainwave patterns? Easier than you might think:

Mind Body Health And The Effect Of Deep Relaxation

In our modern world, we seem to find it harder to relax. Our lives are full of busyness and we are constantly bombarded with stressors; our minds are continually chattering and full of worry. What we often don’t realise is this chronic state of mental unease is the beginning of disease in our body. When we are in this constant mental state of agitation, our body is on constant alert, our metabolic rate increases, our adrenal glands are on overdrive and our brains are giving the signal to pump out more cortisol (the degenerative hormone) into our blood.

Cortisol is important when we need to fight or take flight, and it has helped us survive, but it is only good in small doses. Cortisol is very hard on our bodies and when we have too much of it in our blood, for too long, it accelerates our physical decline. Ageing us faster, it acts as a destructive agent. This is bad news. Because we have become habituated to a state of high alert, this same hormone we called upon to save us in emergencies, is now pumping through our bodies on a daily basis and accelerating our degeneration. In essence the high-pressure lifestyle of our age has put our bodies into self-destruct gear.

It is a fact that physical and mental illness is hitting people in ever increasing numbers and at much younger ages despite the fact that, as a species, we are the most resourceful and scientifically advanced civilization of human history. We also know, but habitually ignore the fact, that the mind is the gatekeeper of our health and well being.

When scientists observe the activity of the brain during different mental states, it is clear that positive mental states create positive effects in the physical body. For example when in a state of deep relaxation or meditation, the brain enters what is commonly referred to as the delta brainwave state. This is the state of deep healing. While in this state, the brain sends signals to the body to release regenerative, antiaging hormones (DHEA and Melatonin) into the blood serum while also giving the command to reduce the cortisol that gets released during high alert and stressed mental states.

Similarly, there have been numerous case studies where patients suffering potentially terminal illnesses where exposed to deep relaxation, and meditation techniques. Compared to the individuals of the control group those exposed to regular ‘doses’ of deep relaxation had either completely healed or extended their longevity substantially compared to those in the control group. What is conclusive is that time to relax deeply and ease our minds is crucial to our health, it is the antidote to the high-pressured lives most of us are living and without it, most of us will die younger than we need to.

A daily dose of deep relaxation, will not only improve your health, but will improve your overall mental state. As well as releasing regenerative hormones, being in a deeply relaxed state also releases endorphins and the ‘happy’ neurotransmitter serotonin. By adopting a daily practice to deeply relax, you will, in time, normalise yourself into a mentally happy state.

One of the most, or perhaps the most, effective way to achieve a state of deep relaxation is through meditation. Meditation is tranquillity for the mind, and where the mind goes, the body follows. However meditation is a serious practice that does not suit everyone. If meditation does not appeal, there are other ways to achieve this, and one must find what suits best. Using relaxation, meditative or binaural beat recordings are a proven, easy and effective choice. Alternatively, yoga, or tai chi might suit better. Whichever means one decides upon is secondary to the result, what is most important is that the technique used causes the brain to slow down its brainwave frequency where the damage of a high gear life can be reversed.

Meditation And Its Effects On Mind Body And Spirit

For anyone who meditates, they know that it is a seriously life changing practice. Meditation can: increase your life span, improve your health, reverse signs of ageing, boost brain function, increase performance, make you happier, bring you peace, give you greater insight and give you greater control over your life to achieve the success you want. Meditation reveals the truth of things and enables you to manifest the life you want.

It sounds to good to be true, but it is well known that all the great sages known through history used meditation to actualise their potential and reach the great heights that they did. What is also true is that we now live in an age where the secret power of meditation is no longer hidden from ordinary folks. And for anyone who seriously wants to step up his or her life, meditation is a way. Easy right? Well yes and no. It is true that meditation is a discipline, and dedication to it brings tremendous rewards. But, like any discipline, meditation takes time to master.

The mind is constantly busy with what I call mental noise. Without even realising it, it is running a constant stream of thoughts to our subconscious mind. The trouble with this is that, for most of us, the thoughts tend to be around stressors and negatives in our lives, and because the brain keeps running these thought without thinking about it, it literally becomes addicted to these thoughts, and in turn these thoughts create more stressors, which in turn feeds these negative thought patterns again. Its not that we want to think these things, they cause us pain, but our brains have become patterned to these thoughts and has no other ‘programme’ to run – unless we give it one.

Now trying to change our programming is very hard to say the least. This is where meditation comes in. Meditation will literally wipe out those programmes. In time, your mind will become tranquil, and with that tranquillity your life, as you know it, will change. You will become attuned to the real you. You will be on your way to actualising your greatest potential.

Now I know this may seem like a grand statement, but I promise you, it is true. Since meditating regularly, my life has literally opened up. I possess a calm I never thought I would have. This benefit alone is enough, but this is just the beginning. It is as if the doors of possibility have swung open right in front of me and life is presenting to me on a whole new level. I am realising I can have exactly what I want now.

I also realise that the idea of sitting quietly for an hour a day might seem impossible to some. For me it took quiet a long time to actually dedicate myself to it as a discipline. But since doing so, I have come across a new meditation technique that makes the benefits of meditation so much easier to achieve and it has to do with certain sound frequencies. Without getting too technical, the benefits of meditation are a result of the brain being conditioned into certain brain wave states and what science has discovered is that the brain can be entrained to enter into these brainwave states by certain sound frequencies, otherwise known as binaural beats.

The scientific term for this is Brainwave Entrainment and it is basically meditation made easy with all the benefits of disciplined meditation. Brainwave Entrainment (binaural beats) put you into deeply relaxing meditative states (alpha, theta and delta) and it is in these brainwave states that the mind is reconditioned to the benefit of the listener as follows:

PHYSICAL/HEALTH BENEFITS: It 'grows' the brain by thickening the connections between the corpus callosum. It lowers blood pressure, reduces cholesterol, reduces metabolic rate, boosts the immune system, smoothes the skin, and releases youth hormones DHEA and Melatonin, while reducing the degenerative hormone Cortisol.

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL BENEFITS: Most people’s brains work in mono, meaning that one side of the brain dominates, but by increasing the connections between the two hemispheres through meditation or brain entrainment, the brain actually begins to work in stereo. It is believed that the brains of the world’s greatest thinkers worked in this way. By causing the brain to dip into Alpha, Theta and Delta states more frequently, mental clarity peaks, creative thinking is enhanced, as is intuition. Through regular use stereoscopic brain functioning puts one into peak performance states by getting the two sides of the brain to work together rather than individually. Fortune 100 companies, leading world minds and NASA are all known to use brain entrainment to engage peak performance levels. A relaxed mind causes a sense of well being, mental stress subsides, mental clarity increases. It causes the mind to calm down, become clear, and can even bring about a sense of elation. This is the optimal state for succeeding in whatever you are focused on. This is key, for focus is the key to changing your life, and brain entrainment and meditation train the brain to become more focused.

The Law Of Attraction And What It Has To Do With Our Thought Behaviour

There has been a tremendous buzz about “The Law Of Attraction”, “The Secret”, “What The Bleep?”. When I first saw the films, I was abuzz myself, entirely swept up, and believing that what they were telling me was true. That everyone of us can manifest our hearts desire by consistently directing our mental focus back to the object of our desire, whatever that may be: a house, a job, more money, a relationship … the list is endless.

If only it were that simple. I am not saying it is not true. In fact, I believe it is true. But, I also know now, having researched and learnt a whole lot more about the phenomena, that there is a whole lot more to it than just thinking about it.

Concentrated direct mental focus (intending) is a whole lot harder than is acknowledged in the films. In fact, I would say that to have a disciplined mind consistently focussed as desired, is probably the hardest thing that any human being can achieve. If you don’t believe me, just sit for five minutes and try and control exactly where your thoughts go for five minutes, try and stay conscious to how they travel from thought to thought, and you’ll know what I am talking about. This is the pursuit of the great mystics of the world: Aurobindo, Buddha, Gurdjieff, Nanak, Jesus, Krishnamurti … to name but a few. They each in their own way were devoted to understanding and gaining mastery over their own minds for they understood that the mind is the doorway to understanding and creating reality.

In naming some of these mystics, I am not condoning or advocating any of them in any particular way. Nor am I in disagreement about their intent as others deem them, but I do believe that we are now of an age where looking to others to understand our own unique essence is outdated. That is not to say teachers do not have a place, but I do think one must become one’s own master. My point in naming some of these mystics is merely to demonstrate the degree of dedication one might realise is necessary in harnessing the power of the mind.

Most of us do not have the calling to be a great mystic, but most of us would like to gain more control over our lives and we can use the same practices used by the masters to gain entry to the doorway of self-mastery. We can take up the practice of becoming aware. Aware of what our minds are creating from moment to moment. Gaining such awareness takes time, effort and real desire. It is wholly achievable.

In weeks to come, this blog will be posting all the things that I have thus discovered and use in my own process of self-mastery. It will explain how thought behaviour effects all the outcomes in our life and how, by modifying and disciplining our thought behaviour we can redirect the manifesting potential that is ceaselessly occurring within our lives. This is the real stuff, the real work of the “Law Of Attraction”
